Briargrove Park - Neighborhood Information

Established in the 1950s, with one-story ranch homes dotting much of its landscape, Briargrove has evolved into one of the most popular neighborhoods in West Houston.

The neighborhood also (in the late 80s) relaxed its deed restrictions to allow for one and one half-story and two-story homes, meaning that new construction homes are now to be seen all over Briargrove.

Briargrove Elementary School

It's almost impossible to talk about Briargrove without first mentioning Briargrove Elementary School. The first years of a child's life are the most important in their development, and the parents of the students at Briargrove Elementary know that better than anyone. In operation since 1958, it is known as a "neighborhood school" because of the hands-on involvement of Briargrove parents in its scholastic and social events.

Because of that, the school is consistently at capacity, so much so that HISD is building St. George Place Elementary School to relieve Briargrove Elementary School. Briargrove Elementary is also getting a new campus, which is scheduled to open in fall 2007.

Briargrove is zoned to the aforementioned Briargrove Elementary School and Grady Middle School, while high school students may choose between Lee High School, Lamar High School and Westside High School.

Most Briargrove public school students go to Lamar High School, while the T.H. Rogers School, an alternative K-12 school for gifted and talented students, deaf students, and multiply impaired students, is nearby Briargrove.

Current market prices for homes in Briargrove are from the $300s up to over $1 million.
